Cloudy End to the Week

A warm front will slowly move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas through tomorrow with overcast skies and widely scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms.  Summer likely conditions will take hold by Sunday and continue on through the middle of next week.

Today through tomorrow, the warm front will lift northward through the region and into New England.  Overcast skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms are a threat.  Fog will be a threat in the overnight and morning hours and may become locally dense at times with visibility below a mile.  The strongest thunderstorms will feature wind gusts over 40 mph, heavy downpours, hail, and frequent lightning.  Winds will veer from the southeast to southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures today will range from the mid 60's over Connecticut and Long Island, upper 60's to lower 70's over the New York City metropolitan area, and mid to upper 70's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area, eastern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey.  Temperatures tonight will fall the into the upper 50's to lower 60's throughout the region.  Temperatures tomorrow afternoon will range from the lower to mid 70's over Connecticut and Long Island, mid to upper 70's over the New York City metropolitan area, and upper 70's to lower 80's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The warm front will be to the northeast of the entire northern Mid Atlantic by Sunday with Summer like conditions through Tuesday.  Fog will be a threat in the morning hours and will be locally dense at times.  Scattered clouds with isolated showers and thunderstorms will be a threat in the afternoon and evening hours.  Humidity will be high through the period.  Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60's.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 70's over Long Island and lower to mid 80's throughout the rest of the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan area.

A strong yet slow moving cold front will produce showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and upper 70's to lower 80's for highs.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the mid to upper 50's for lows and upper 60's to lower 70's for highs.
