Controlled Burn Planned In Freehold: See Details
While the burn is underway, officials said residents may notice some smoke in the area.
FREEHOLD, NJ — Residents should be aware of a controlled burn set to take place in Freehold.
On or about Saturday through Tuesday (depending on the weather), the NJ Forest Fire Service will be conducting a controlled burn at Lake Topanemus Park.
The process is expected to take no longer than two hours and will be conducted by staff from the NJ Forest Fire Service and borough officials.

“This is being conducted in order to reduce fuel and invasive species while fostering regeneration of native species,” officials said. “...It should begin and end in the same day.”
While the controlled burn takes place, borough officials said park visitors and area residents may notice some smoke from the burn.

Park visitors should stay away from the burn area, officials said.
