Delayed Opening Set For Freehold Schools: See Details

FREEHOLD, NJ — Schools throughout Freehold will operate on delayed opening schedules on Tuesday due to winter weather conditions.

The delayed openings will be as follows:

Freehold Regional High School District

• All bus pickups will be delayed 90 minutes
• Early schools (Freehold, Howell, Manalapan) will begin at 9 a.m.
• Late schools (Colts Neck, Freehold Township, Marlboro) will begin at 9:54 a.m.
• In the event of any further change in schedule, the district will use its website, social media accounts, mobile app, and automated phone system to alert the community.

Freehold Township School District

• Two-hour delayed opening
• Students should report to their bus stops two hours later than their regular pickup times
• YMCA before-school care and all before-school activities are cancelled.

Freehold Borough School District

• Two-hour delayed opening schedule to allow for additional time for the roads, sidewalks, and parking lots to be treated
• Freehold Intermediate School will begin at 10 a.m.
• Park Avenue Elementary School will begin at 10:35 a.m.
• Freehold Learning Center will begin at 11:05 a.m.

Tuesday’s delayed openings follow snow days across the Garden State after a winter storm hit New Jersey with snow, ice, wintry mix, and subzero wind chills over the weekend.

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service is warning residents of dangerously cold temperatures arriving this week, with several nights featuring single-digit temperatures and wind chills below zero.

“Some record lows and record low highs may be in jeopardy later this week,” officials said on Monday. “The stretch begins tonight, with a Cold Weather Advisory in place for the entire area.”

• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -4. West wind 10-15 MPH, with gusts as high as 25 MPH.
• Tuesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -4. West wind 10-15 MPH.
• Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -3. West wind around 5 MPH.
• Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. West wind 5-10 MPH.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 6.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 19.
