Election Morning Parking Problems at Park Avenue Complex

An in-service day for the district's teachers created a lack of parking for voters Tuesday.

An in-service day for Freehold Borough teachers at the Park Avenue Complex created parking problems for voters looking to cast their ballot Tuesday.

While Freehold Borough schools were closed on Election Day, teachers from , and the had a professional day scheduled at the Park Avenue Complex, according to the district’s Web site.

Freehold Borough Clerk Traci DiBenedetto said she began receiving calls from residents and municipal officials about the lack of voter parking Tuesday morning. DiBenedetto said she and Borough Administrator Joseph Bellina reached out to school district officials about alleviating the parking problem.

Parking was made available to voters in the lot’s fire lane. Freehold Learning Center teachers left the complex by noon, according to DiBenedetto.

She said Freehold Borough officials were not aware of the school district’s in-service.

Freehold Borough voting districts two and three cast ballots at the Park Avenue Complex.

Approximately 200 people had voted by 12:30 p.m. on Election Day. Polls are open until 8 p.m.
