On the morning of July 4, Borough residents will once again gather on the steps of Borough Hall at 9 a.m. for the eighth annual reading of the Declaration of Independence. The fire bell will then be struck 50 times to commemorate each state, the flag will be raised, and we will recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The program will conclude with a stirring rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Any resident who would like to read a portion of the Declaration is invited to join us at 8:30 a.m., and we will provide you with a copy of the document.
