FFA Week
An inside look on how the Freehold FFA celebrated the much anticipated national FFA week.
FFA Week in the Freehold FFA
Every year every FFA chapter celebrates FFA Week. The celebration starts off the week of George Washington’s birthday, which was from February 20th to the 27th. This year was a huge success packed with a bunch of activities for the Freehold FFA Chapter and all its members.
We started the week off strong with a Monday Munchkin Breakfast before homeroom for all our members. With everything in store for that week, we were going to need all the energy we could gather! We also celebrated the start of the week by wearing blue, one of the national colors of the FFA.

On Tuesday, the Freehold chapter decided to pay a small tribute to the theme they had picked for the year: Discover modeled after Disney. With that in mind, we had a movie night after school to watch Mulan. It was great time to relax before the bulk of the week began. Not only that, but juniors and seniors of the program got the chance to do the annual window paintings at the school, a way to bring awareness to agriculture and FFA.
The middle of the week arrived, the day all juniors were especially looking forward to. Not only was it Wacky Sock Wednesday for all the members, but it was also the night the junior-run Hunger Banquet was going to be held. With months of preparation, the juniors in the Freehold FFA chapter gathered around a hundred people to bring awareness about families who live with constant food insecurity around the globe. They were grateful to have received just under $400 of support to then donate to charities, such as Farmers Against Hunger, Oxfam, Students Helping Honduras, and Heifer International. With all the non-perishable food items that were donated, the juniors will be able to bring a lot to Open Door, where it will be weighed this Wednesday as well. The night was a huge success and the juniors were thankful to all those who came out.

On Thursday, juniors and a few seniors were again able to participate in FFA week by taking a class trip to ALLD, a leadership conference hosted by the state officers where they learned the importance of “agvocating” and “agnovation”. At the conference, students were even able to hear from Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno. Seniors that came were lucky to be able to take a tour at the New Jersey State House. After the trip and the monthly meeting, members were able to play a Kahoot trivia game about everything FFA; the champion FFA-er received a tasty surprise!
On the last day of FFA week, members celebrated by wearing the color gold, the second national FFA color. The day was wrapped up with a nice slideshow summarizing the whole week.
Overall, it was a great week filled with growth, opportunities, and a lot of fun! Members can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year.
