Mt. Laurel, NJ –– The Funplex announced today that Gary Foley has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer. Foley comes with a wealth of operational experience in the family entertainment industry ranging from the front lines to strategic, executive management. This experience spans more than 35 years and includes managing startups, developing best-of-class guest services, building education and training programs, train-the-trainer leadership facilitation, and recruitment and ride safety.
“Our Funplex team is very excited for Gary Foley to jump on board,” said CEO Randy Lahn. “Gary has the experience, knowledge, and management skills we were looking for to bring our parks to the next level. As the two Funplex centers begin to expand with larger water parks and additional attractions we know that Gary will create a well-rounded team ready for growth.”
Foley began his career as a teenager in Ocean City, New Jersey with Gillian’s Wonderland Piers and Gillian’s Island Water Theme Park as a front line team member. Very shortly Foley was appointed to the Director of Human Resources. He then took on the responsibility of Director of Operations for both parks. In 2009 Foley was instrumental in opening West Berlin, New Jersey’s 58,000 square foot Sahara Sam’s indoor water theme park as General Manager. In 2011, he was approached to take on an even larger role, opening iPlay America, the 115,000 square foot, all-indoor, multi-purpose entertainment complex as Chief Operating Officer.

Foley supplemented his career with positions with IAAPA, the leading industry association. He has served as chairman of the personnel committee where he developed an award-winning program called “Motivate Me” which he then presented at the annual, national convention. Foley continues his training workshops for parks across the United States.
“When you grow up in this industry, and have the opportunity to work alongside real pros, great career opportunities come your way,” said Foley. “Whether it’s an FEC on the shore, a water park, or indoor arcades, I take great pride in running an operationally safe and sound facility. The Fun Plex allows me to parlay a lot of my experience into what they offer people out of two locations. It’s an exciting next step for me.”
