Freehold Borough Mayor Michael Wilson Will Not Seek Reelection
Wilson joined the council in 1980 and became mayor in 1985.

Michael Wilson, Freehold Borough’s longest serving mayor, will hand over the gavel at the end of 2011. Wilson made the surprise announcement during Borough Council’s regular meeting on Monday, March 7.
Wilson first joined the council in 1980 when he was selected to fill an unexpired term. He was subsequently elected to terms before being appointed mayor in 1985 after the death of Mayor John McGackin.
“I’m very proud of the fact I’ve lasted this long,” Wilson said. “There comes a time when you have to pass the baton.”
