Freehold Regional Closing High Schools Amid Coronavirus Worries
The district is changing its spring break and using three emergency closure days to cover most of the closure, the superintendent said.

FREEHOLD, NJ — The Freehold Regional High School District will be closed for two weeks starting Monday to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus, Superintendent Charles Sampson announced Friday.
All extracurricular events, athletic events, educational excursions and community gatherings are suspended until further notice as well, to protect the health of students and staff as COVID-19 continues to spread.
The district will be using its emergency closing days and shifting its spring break to cover most of the closure, Sampson said. The three inclement weather days will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The spring break dates will be used March 19, 20, 23, 24 and 25.

"The district has decided on this schedule in an effort to minimize academic disruption for our students," Sampson said. There is a FRHSD Remote Learning Plan that outlines guidelines and expectations for the students.
Students and families are strongly encouraged to review the FRHSD Remote Learning Plan. Student assignments will be posted in each teacher’s Google Classroom. Students should check their Google Classrooms each day of remote learning and complete and submit assignments as outlined.
The state Department of Education has said remote learning days will count towards the 180 school-day requirement
Sampson said the district is continuing to monitor the situation and talk to state health officials and the state Department of Education.
