Freehold Township 2025 Fire District Elections: How To Vote
On Feb. 15, residents can hit the polls to cast their vote in local fire district elections. Here's what to know:
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — While the General Election took place in November, it will soon be election season again for Freehold Township residents who can hit the polls on Feb. 15 to vote in their local fire district elections.
Whether you’re planning to cast your vote in person or vote by mail, here’s what to to know:
Voting By Mail
For those who wish to vote by mail, the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot by mail is Feb. 8, according to the Monmouth County Clerk's Office. The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot in person is Feb. 14 by 3 p.m.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Feb. 15 to count, according to officials.

Voting In-Person
In-person voting will take place on Feb. 15, according to Freehold Township.
For those in District #1, voting will take place at the Freehold Township Fire House (located at 330 Stillwells Corner Road). For those in District #2, voting will take place at the East Freehold Fire House (located at 191 Dutch Lane Road).
Voting at these locations will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 15.
2025 Budget Referendum
A referendum to approve the East Freehold Fire Company’s 2025 budget will be one item on the ballot this February for District #2 voters.
If approved, the fire company said the budget will ensure their ability to sustain accomplishments such as 14 new firefighters, a new Junior Firefighter Program, intensive live-fire training programs, birthdays, parties, Santa runs and general community engagement programs.
According to the fire company, only 1.6% of the township budget goes to Fire District #2, which funds the East Freehold Fire Company.
If approved, officials said the referendum will allow the company to continue sustaining its programs and accomplishments with no tax increase for the average homeowner.
