Gannett Closing Freehold Twp. Printing Plant: Report
The plant employs 225 people, including 154 full-time workers, according to the report.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gannett has announced that it will be moving its printing and production operations to northern New Jersey and will be closing its Freehold Township plant as of June, according to a report.
The Freehold Township plant prints the Asbury Park Press, The Home News Tribune, The Daily Record, The Daily Journal and The Courier News, along with two other publications, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.
The 190,000-square-foot plant at 235 Willow Brook Road opened in 1996 and employs 225 people, 154 full-time, the Press reported. It said affected employees were notified Thursday but the report did not say whether all of them will be losing their jobs.

“The Freehold production facility and its loyal employees have been a part of the company for many years,” Tom Donovan, northeast regional president for Gannett and publisher of the Asbury Park Press, said in the report. “We thank them for their service and wish them well. We will do all we can to help them transition successfully."
All printing and production operations will move to The Record’s printing plant in Rockaway. Gannett purchased the North Jersey Media Group, which operated The Record, in July.
