Monday: Freehold Blizzard Updates, Closures

FREEHOLD, NJ -- Continuing coverage of this weekend’s blizzard -- with important updates on closings, power restoration and other information -- will be posted here.

CLOSURES/CANCELLATIONS

Freehold Borough Schools are closed Monday.

Freehold Township Schools are closed Monday.

The Freehold Regional High School District is closed on Monday.

The Monmouth County Vocational Schools -- Academy of Allied Health Sciences, Communications High, High Tech High, Biotechnology High School, Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Academy of Law and Public Safety, and CLASS Academy -- are closed Monday.

St. John Vianney High School is closed on Monday.

St. Rose High School is closed on Monday

Brookdale Community College is closed on Monday

Georgian Court University is closed on Monday.

Monmouth University is closed on Monday.

Sunday update:

The Freehold area is digging out from 22 inches of snow that the blizzard dropped on residents -- much to clean up but just shy of the 26.5 recorded in neighboring Howell.

Saturday update:

More than a foot of snow has fallen in Freehold and surrounding areas as of Saturday afternoon with more to come. Freehold has scattered power outages but has been spared the worst of it.

CANCELLATIONS

The SAT test administration scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, at Freehold, Freehold Township, Howell and Marlboro high schools has been canceled. It is rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20.

CLOSINGS

No reported closings as of 3 p.m. Friday.

REMINDERS/TIPS

Residents are reminded to remove vehicles from the streets so plowing can be done efficiently.

Residents also are reminded to assist by removing snow from fire hydrants and storm drains during winter weather.
