Did you know you can use your hot tub to aid in your workouts? It’s true. With runners in particular, using a hot tub can relax those tired and sore muscles after an intense workout. The heat and bubbly jets of water can encourage your muscles to recover at a faster pace so you can get back out there quickly.
Get in the hot tub for just a few minutes before you run in an effort to loosen up the muscles. Don’t do this longer than five minutes, though, so as to prevent dehydration and muscle fatigue. Consume plenty of water, preferably two glasses an hour before you go running. During your run, hydrate every 15 minutes. If you’re tempted to hop in the hot tub right after your run, it’s best to wait at least a half hour. Your muscles and joints are inflamed and putting them in contact with hot water right away will boost your blood flow.
