Long Branch Man Hid 20 Heroin Folds 'Within Buttocks' At Monmouth County Jail: Prosecutor

The heroin was discovered while the man was being processed to be held in connection with an unrelated crime, officials said.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Long Branch man is facing drug charges after authorities say he concealed heroin "within his buttocks" at the county jail.

Joseph Longo, 26, of Long Branch, was at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on Aug. 3 when guards found 20 wax folds containing heroin "within his buttocks," while they were performing a search as part of processing him for jail, according to the criminal complaint released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Longo had been taken to the jail on charges of aggravated assault and contempt of municipal court in connection with an incident in Long Branch, according to jail records. No further details were immediately available on the assault charge.

Longo's bail was set at $10,000 on the heroin charge, $25,000 on the aggravated assault charge and $89 on the contempt charge, according to jail records.
