Make-A-Wish Gives Freehold Township Teen The Gift Of Connectivity
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Madison's wish was a Macbook Pro to connect with her friends during a time of continued isolation.

FREEHOLD, NJ – One young Freehold Township resident was recently granted her one “wish," allowing her to finally connect with family and friends amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Madison Spicuzza, 15, was surprised with a MacBook Pro thanks to Make-A-Wish New Jersey. The teen, who is battling thyroid cancer, was given the computer along with a special dinner from Jersey Mike’s Subs, according to a news release.
The teen has endured much throughout her diagnosis and treatments, and had to experience continued isolation with high concern for her health throughout the pandemic. According to Spicuzza, having her own MacBook Pro would give her a new outlet to stay in touch with her closest friends, watch her favorite shows and enjoy the things a typical high school sophomore should enjoy.

Spicuzza’s reaction to the surprise delivery - alongside neighbors, family and friends stopping by outside her home to show their support - was “really fun,” according to the teen. “It was a lot, but it was really fun!”
“The past year has been hard, we’re not going to lie,” Spicuzza’s parents shared in a statement.

"Tears were being shed,” they continued. “Our neighbors were jealous of our dinner from Jersey Mike’s, too! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.”
The teen’s wish was granted with the help of Jersey Mike’s Subs and their partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Over the past four years, the fast-casual establishment has shown their financial support and dedication to the mission of Make-A-Wish, all while creating over 100 life-changing wishes for children and teens throughout New Jersey.
“Now more than ever, Make-A-Wish New Jersey relies on the support of its loyal and generous community to help continue to deliver hope when it is needed most,” the organization wrote in a statement.
“While wishes that are travel-related or involve large gatherings have been postponed for the well-being of wish kids and families due to current medical and public concerns, the organization remains steadfast in its mission and reaffirms to the community, and to wish families – wishes are not cancelled. Hope is not cancelled.”
