Fibromyalgia is a condition more people are suffering with. It is more common in women but men do experience it too. It is characterized by generalized pain throughout the body, extreme tenderness to even light touch, chronic fatigue is usually present as well as headaches, depression and anxiety.
When patients suffering with fibromyalgia go to the medical doctors, they perform several tests which all come back negative. Then they test multiple tender trigger points on your body and if you have 11 of the 18 locations they will diagnose the condition. Treatment is focused on covering up the symptoms with medications like Lyrica, Cymbalta and Savella but just like any other medication the at best would mask the symptoms and can lead to many harmful side effects.
Dr. Shad Foster, DC recently shared a great study: Fibromyalgia: New Theory on What Causes the Disorder
It's important to know the etiology of conditions people suffer with so we can better treat the cause. As a chiropractor in Freehold, NJ I have been seeing patients with fibromylagia for the last 16 years. Our multi-pronged approach at helping fibromyalgia sufferers has a high success rate as we are addressing the imbalances in the body, not just treating symptoms. Dr. Foster's article above mentions chiropractic and cleansing which are 2 of the approaches we take.
When looking at cleanse programs it is important that it is natural and not highly processed, has no artificial sweeteners, no soy, no gluten and cleanses more than just the colon and kidneys. Dr. Brokstein of Hometown Family Wellness Center uses a cleanse system that cleanses the entire body all the way down to the cellular level while incorporating optimal nutrition.
