High pressure off the North Carolina coast this morning will drive a tropical Summer air mass right into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas today. As a result, temperatures will rise to above normal levels making for a nearly perfect Memorial Day for this year.
A few showers this morning morning over Connecticut and Long Island will exit by the afternoon as the warm front lifts into New England. Otherwise, scattered clouds can be expected throughout the region. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80's over much of the region and upper 70's to lower 80's along the immediate coast for highs.
Tonight, scattered clouds can be expected throughout the region. Areas of fog will develop in some locations in the morning hours leading to visibility falling below a mile at times. Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60's for lows.

The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 50 mph, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and hail. Localized urban flooding will be a threat due to the heavy downpours. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs.
A series of disturbances will rotate through the region Wednesday on through Saturday with a threat for widely scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms each afternoon. Otherwise, scattered cloud cover can be expected. Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and lower to mid 70's for highs. Temperatures on Thursday will range from the mid to upper 50's for lows and upper 60's to lower 70's for highs. Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will range upper 50's to lower 60's for lows and lower to mid 70's for highs.
