Warm Front On The Move

A warm front over the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys this morning will be on the move today and will approach the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas by tonight with increasing clouds and scattered clouds.  This warm front will slowly move through the region tomorrow and Friday with periods of showers and thunderstorms and Summer like weather conditions for this weekend.

Through this evening, clouds will slowly increase with an isolated shower possible but not likely.  Most locations will remain dry.  Winds will veer from the northwest to southeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures throughout the northern Mid Atlantic will range from the mid to upper 60's for highs.

Tonight, overcast skies are expected with isolated to widely scattered showers.  The showers will be capable of brief heavy downpours.  Winds will be from the southeast at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph by morning.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 40's to lower 50's for lows.

By tomorrow, the warm front will slowly move through the Philadelphia metropolitan area and approach the New York City metropolitan area with overcast skies and scattered showers and thunderstorms.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 40 mph, hail, frequent lightning, and very heavy downpours.  Winds will veer to the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's over the New York City metropolitan area and the immediate coast and upper 60's to lower 70's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

On Friday, the warm front will remain stalled over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas with periods of showers and thunderstorms.  Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50's throughout the region.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's over Connecticut and Long Island, upper 60's to lower 70's over the New York City metropolitan area and eastern New Jersey, and lower to mid 70's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The warm front will push northeast of the region Saturday on through Tuesday with Summer like weather conditions.  A threat of a showers and thunderstorm will linger each day.  Temperatures will be well above normal through the period.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's over Long Island, lower to mid 70's along the rest of the immediate coast, and upper 70's to lower 80's throughout the rest of the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.
