Yet again the United States ranks dead last among all developed countries in health and healthcare. It's quite sad as our country supposedly has the best of the medications and surgery, right? Well guess what? Medicine and surgery do not lead to health or wellness!
We use over 70% of the world's prescribed medications yet we are less than 2% of the world's population. Our healthcare costs keep skyrocketing. Medication is no quick fix. It's at best masking symptoms yet is loaded with side effects that are destroying our country. Pushing more medications and surgery will not fix the problem of a snowball of conditions being caused by those same prescribed medications. Medical treatment is actually one of the top 3 leading causes of death in our country!
People need to be more responsible for their health. In our country people think it's their entitlement to have their health covered by insurance by the government. So, we should be paying more taxes because people don't want to be responsible for making lifestyle choices that cause them to be overweight, have high blood pressure, diabetes, increase cancer risks, the list goes on and on.
I just had a person call about our weight loss program which he said he is severely overweight. His first question is how much does the program cost? When I tell him the 30 day program is approximately $10 per day he said wow that is expensive and I have several kids to worry about feeding and caring for. I turned it around and asked him if he consumes certain things like coffee and smokes and his response: I drink 4 to 5 cups of coffee per day and smoke 2 or 3 packs of cigarettes per day. Go into a starbucks and find out how much a cup of coffee is.. even if he goes to WAWA for a $1 coffee that's $4 to $5 per day of coffee and the smoking he does can easily be costing him $20 to $30 per week. Right there we're easily talking $200 per month to destroy his health and take away from his family. With our weight loss program I also explained that 2 meals per day with our program replace the money he'd be spending on meals he was getting for himself that were not healthy for him.
Until our country starts making health a priority and making lifestyle changes, health in the US will continue to be in a downward spiral with ever increasing healthcare and insurance costs. Investing in healthier foods that might be slightly more expensive now will cut down healthcare costs down the road and also lead to a longer, healthier life to enjoy the world we live in. Spending a little more time outside, taking a walk, or working out rather than sitting around with inactivity goes a long way. Chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and other natural healthcare are based on optimizing health and wellness.
