WATCH: Galloway Cop Stabbed While Responding To 911 Hangup Calls

Police have released new details in the stabbing of a Galloway officer, including bodycam video of the attack:

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man was charged with attempted murder after stabbed a cop in the face and injuring another, police said.

At about 8:30 p.m., the officers were investigating several 911 hangup calls at a home on Cresson Avenue, police said.

Officers were speaking with the mother of Keith Kiminski, 30, on the front porch, which can be seen in bodycam video released by police (WATCH BELOW).

The mother was explaining to the officers that her son had a knife when suddenly Kiminski darted out of the front door and attacked Officer Erik Tarnow, police said.

Tarnow can be heard shouting at Kiminski to stop and shouting in pain in the video shared.

Kiminski stabbed Tarnow on the right side of his face with a folding pocket knife and a violent altercation ensued, police said.

Tarnow took Kiminski to the ground and along with Officer Hunter Thomas, they fought with Kiminski for "several minutes" before backup officers arrived, according to police.

Both were taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center City Division for treatment.

Tarnow received a significant cut on the side of his face and underwent surgery, and as of Monday is in stable condition, according to police.

Thomas was treated for a minor head injury and released the same evening.

Kiminski was charged with numerous offenses including attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and resisting arrest, and was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a future court date.

"This incident is another reminder of the dangers that our police officers face on a daily basis," said Chief Richard D. Barber. "We are grateful that Officer Tarnow is recovering well, and our department will be here to fully support Erik and his family."
