A crew arrived on-scene and took a man who suffered leg lacerations and two children who were reportedly in shock to station Atlantic City, where they were transferred to emergency medical service personnel, according to the Coast Guard.

“A number of calls this weekend have been reported by good samaritans,” said Lt. Chris Shivock, a command duty officer at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay. “This is a good reminder that everyone on the water can play a key role in the safety of others and why keeping a functional radio or charged cellphone aboard, along with wearing a life jacket and knowing your vessel’s location, can dramatically reduce the time it takes rescuers to get to you in an emergency situation.”

Also, in Monmouth County, the Coast Guard rescued a boater who was reportedly injured when a recreational vessel carrying two people ran aground near the Brielle railroad bridge Sunday afternoon.

The Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay dispatched a 29-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet after receiving a distress call from a good samaritan at about 12 p.m.

The RB-S crew arrived on-scene and took a woman, who was reportedly suffering a neck and head injury, to Station Manasquan Inlet, where she was transferred to emergency medical service personnel.

TowboatU.S. also responded and took a man who reportedly fell ill to Hoffman’s Marina to awaiting EMS.
A commercial salvage unit is developing a plan to remove the 23-foot center console boat, which does not pose a navigational hazard.

“Holiday weekends are typically a time where there are a lot of boaters on the water,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Kate Zanickrowsky. “Boaters are reminded to exercise caution on the water, keep a close eye on their speed and always wear their lifejackets.”
