Absegami Girls' Soccer Team on a Roll

The Braves have won three straight.

It looks like the team meeting worked.

Since the Absegami High School girls' soccer team lost, 1-0, to Hammonton, the Braves have won three straight games.

All three wins have been by one goal.

Absegami takes on Delsea later today.

SHUTOUT AFTER SHUTOUT

In the preseason, Absegami senior Sean Ahern said his team is confident in its ability to play defense.

He even spoke about the Braves shutting out many of their opponents.

It seems he knew exactly what he was talking about.

The Braves have won three straight games, all by shutout.

The Braves blanked Ocean City, 3-0, on Sept. 19. They then edged
Mainland, 1-0, on Sept. 21 before routing Holy Spirit, 7-0, on Sept.
24.

Absegami keeper Ryan Taylor was in net for all three victories, making
four saves against the Red Raiders, five against the Mustangs and
three against the Spartans.

Offensively, Anthony Maruca has led the way, scoring two against Ocean City, and four against Holy Spirit.

His most important goal may have come against Mainland, registering
the only tally to find the back of the net.

Mach Jackson scored twice during the Braves' unbeaten streak.

CAL TENNIS

Absegami’s No.1 singles player Brianna Nguyen defeated Holy Spirit’s
Kaitlyn Bonner, 6-4, 6-2, in the opening round of the Cape-Atlantic
League Tennis Championships in Vineland.

However, the Braves’ top player was eliminated after losing to Millville’s Amanda Hickman, the tournament’s third seed, 6-0, 6-1, in the second round.

GOAL WANTED

The Absegami field hockey players expected to go through a rebuilding year, especially with so many underclassmen on the team.

They expected wins to be difficult to come by. The Braves probably
didn't expect scoring goals to be so difficult.

Absegami has been shut out in every game so far.
