ACUA to Host Rutgers Environmental Steward Training

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) will be participating in a Rutgers University program designed to introduce non-scientists to key environmental issues in the state, the ACUA announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 2013 class of Rutgers Cooperative Extension's Environmental Steward training takes place from January to June in Atlantic, Warren and Somerset counties. According to the ACUA, leading authorities from academics will be joined by colleagues from government and the non-profit sector to share understanding and insight with students.

“Students do not only receive facts, but also are introduced to a network of expert individuals and organizations who can be of service to them in the future as they wrestle with solving local environmental problems” Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agent and program originator Bruce Barbour said in a release.

Training in Atlantic County takes place at the ACUA on 6700 Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost is $250.
