Assumption to Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, Jan. 27, and Assumption Regional Catholic School students will get the week started with a special mass at 11 a.m. that day.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton students in Absecon will attend a special mass at 10 a.m., and students of St. Nicholas in Egg Harbor City will attend an afternoon mass, beginning at 4:30. Students attending St. Thomas in Brigantine will attend a 9:30 a.m. mass.

According to school officials, the rest of the week will unfold with the following events:

Monday, Jan. 28 - Celebrating Catholic Education Day

It is Hilarious Hat Day: Students can wear “Hilarious Hats” and each class will pick the best hat in their classroom.

Activities:

“Moving Up Day” Students will see what is in store for them for next year.

Science Fair Judging – Judges from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, local businesses and the Wild Life Refugee will interview students asking questions about their projects and award winners (will take place 9:30 – 12:00)

PTA Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Immediately following the meeting parents will have an opportunity to view the Science Fair projects and utilize the media center and register students for the 2013-2014 school year.

Tuesday, Jan. 29 – Celebrate Catholic School Teachers Day

Its “Spectacular Socks and Sneakers” Day - Students will wear “Spectacular Socks and Sneakers.”  Each class will pick the best socks in their classroom.

Activities: Students will have the opportunity to view the science fair projects as a class during the morning.

Family Feud will take place with students and faculty using a survey that was taken by students prior to the game.  Open to anyone

Wednesday, Jan. 30 – Celebrate Catholic God Given Talents Day

It’s “Pajama” Day and Silly Slippers Day Students can wear “Silly Slippers.”

Activities:

Student Talent Show 9:30 a.m. opened to students, faculty, families, friends and parishioners

Student Talent Show 7 p.m. opened to students, faculty, families, friends and parishioners

Thursday, Jan. 31 - Celebrate Catholic School Spirit Day

Its “Sensational Spirit” Day - Students can wear blue and white to celebrate school spirit. Each class will pick the student displaying the most school spirit in their classroom.

Activities:

AtlantiCare will be presenting Make a Healthy Plate Presentation for grades K-4 from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m.

A all school PEP RALLY will take place starting at 1 p.m. 8^th grade will compete with faculty in a fun activity. Open to anyone

At about 1:40, there will be a presentation about the Project PORTS, from the Haskins Research Institute (partnering oyster restoration through schools), through Rutgers University.  This is a project we will be taking part in this spring at our school.  Open to anyone

Friday, Feb. 1 - Celebrating Catholic Faith Day

“Ravishing Red” Day - Day of Service. Students will donate $2 to dress down in jeans and Red shirts to help kick off American Heart Awareness month.

Activities:

All School Mass Open to anyone

We will have guest visits from 10:15 a.m.–11:30am

Parents/Grandparents are welcome to spend some time with students

Saturday, Feb. 2 - Celebrating Our Catholic School

Assumption Open House from 12-2pm

Guest will be welcomed to observe our JV and Varsity basketball games, interact with our faculty and staff, take tours, observe clubs and projects students are involved with and learn more about ARCS!
