Atlantic County Drug Take Back Day Set for Sept. 26
The event provides residents with the chance to properly dispose of expired and unused prescription drugs.

The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will host a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Atlantic County residents can safely dispose of unused and expired prescription medicines during Folsom’s Community Day, being held at Folsom Elementary School at 1357 Mays Landing Road, Folsom, N.J. 08037. Drop-off takes place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The purpose of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible method of disposing of prescription drugs, while educating the public about the potential abuse of medications.

The proper disposal of prescription drugs keeps them away from those who might make them available for abuse and prevents them from being flushed into the water supply or thrown into the trash and easily found.
“The lives and safety of county residents is our first priority,” Atlantic County Sheriff Frank X Balles said. “Our children are our future and keeping prescription medications out of their hands and off the streets is vital to their well-being and the safety of others.”
