Beloved South Jersey Woman, 'Top Notch' Hair Stylist Killed By NJ Transit Bus

'Nervous Nelly' died as a result of her injuries.

A beloved local hair stylist known as "Nervous Nelly" has died this week of injuries after being struck by a NJ Transit bus.

Elizabeth Anne McAllister, 52, was walking at the intersection of West Jersey Avenue and Main Street in Pleasantville on Aug. 29 when she was struck, according to police.

The front rack of the bus hit McAllister and knocked her to the ground. McAllister was initially taken by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with a severe head injury, police said.

The crash is under investigation by Pleasantville Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-641-6100.

Her obituary said she loved to get things for the kids, "especially for Back-to-School time," and she had a generosity that could not be measured nor matched.

"They were very happy when Nervous Nelly, as they affectionately called her, was in their midst," according to her obituary. "Every time you saw her, she would always make a point to tell you that 'She loved you.'"

She worked at a local Hair Salon, "and as a result, always had her hair looking top-notch." A Going Home Service of Love will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mikal's Funeral Parlor located at 30 North Pennsylvania Avenue Atlantic City.
