Blue Heron Pines to Host Mayor's Cup Sept. 23.

Almost four months after being purchased by former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski, Blue Heron Pines will host the Galloway Mayor’s Cup, the township announced.

The Mayor’s Cup will take place Sunday, Sept. 23, beginning with registration and a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m., and the tournament is a scramble format. In a scramble format, each player in a foursome hits their second shot from the spot of the best drive in the group, and each successive shot can be taken from the spot of the best in the group.

Cost for individual golfers is $135, and that includes a long sleeve t-shirt, greens fees, a golf cart and a ticket to the Awards Banquet that follows at 1 p.m.

Sponsorship packages are available, and include:

• Gold Sponsorships, which are $1,000 for four golfers, four shirts, a regular golf package, a full color advertisement in the program book and a hole sponsorship with a sign;
• Long Sleeve t-shirt sponsorships, which are $500 to have a business name put across the back of a t-shirt. This is limited to four sponsors, and the deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 12;
• Hole Sponsorship with sign, $150;
• Full page color advertisement, $200; and
• Half page color advertisement, $125.

The artwork deadline for program books is Sept. 17.

All proceeds will benefit Community Services Event Fund, including the Youth Protection Fingerprinting Background Check program. Checks can be made payable to GTSCEF Mayor’s Cup, 636 South New York Road, Galloway NJ08205.

The Awards Banquet will feature raffle drawings and trophies will be given out for first and second place finishers. The township accepts raffle items, door prizes and monetary donations, and arrangements can be made to have donations picked up by calling 609-652-8657, ext. 15.

In June, Jaowrski added the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club, located on Tilton Road and Country Club Drive, to the list of golf clubs he owns in southern New Jersey. The others include Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood and Running Deer Golf Club in Pitts Grove. Ron Jaworski Golf Management also manages RiverWinds Golf and Tennis Club in West Deptford and Edgewood in the Pines Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
