Dead Pets Found In Freezer Of Galloway Home: Police

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway woman was charged with 43 counts of animal neglect after police found seven dead pets in her freezer and 36 living animals in "inhumane conditions" at a Cresson Avenue home, police said.

Police executed a search warrant on the 300 block home on July 1, after having received reports of numerous animals being neglected.

From the house, officers rescued seven dogs and 29 cats, Galloway police said. They also found two dead adult dogs, one dead adult cat and four dead kittens inside a freezer, police said.

Nancy Santos, 57, the home's resident, was charged with 43 counts of animal neglect and placed in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a future court date.

"The Galloway Township Police Department remains committed to investigating any report of animal cruelty in our community," said Chief Richard D. Barber. "To honor this commitment, we recently trained two additional officers to serve in our HLEO Unit."

Police thanked Kimmy’s Safe Haven Rescue, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter, and A-Academy Animal Control for their assistance with relocating the rescued animals.
