Music both soave and scorching—a piano concerto and delightful suite by Maurice Ravel and one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most popular, powerful symphonies—will make up the program of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony’s last subscription concert series of the 2010-11 season.
A discounted ticket price of $25 will be for all seats in all venues, subsidized by a generous grant from the PNC Arts Alive grant program.
The program will include Philadelphia based pianist as soloist in Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, one of the most exquisite, witty, and fragrant concertos for any instrument. Also on the program will be one of Ravel’s most profound scores, perfect in scope—his Mother Goose Suite (Ma mère l’oye), and Beethoven’s revolutionary Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, “Eroïca.” One of the most compelling, mind-smashing and richly expressive musical compositions ever conceived, it changed the course of music more than perhaps any other single work.
