Dr. Mimi Schwartz in Book Discussion “Good Neighbors, Bad Times: Echoes of My Father’s German Village”

Margate City, NJ – Dr. Mimi Schwartz, Professor Emerita of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, will present a discussion of her book, “Good Neighbors, Bad Times: Echoes of My Father’s German Village.” The event, free and open to the public, takes place 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Katz Jewish Community Center here, 501 North Jerome Avenue.  It is co-sponsored by The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center and the Katz JCC. Schwartz’ memoir details memories of Jews and Christians from one village in Germany’s Black Forest.  In the Village, Schwartz said, “Everyone got along before Hitler.” She seeks to discover how good neighbors negotiated decency during Nazi rule and afterward, and what it means today. New Jersey educators may receive credit for professional development hours for their attendance.  For more information, please call the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at 609-652-4699.
