The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will host four discussion panels on Thursday February 23 in celebration of Black History Month. The events examine Black life and Black culture.
In addition, the College will host “The Negro Zone” on Tuesday February 28th, a presentation by independent filmmaker Atif Lanier and cast members. The presentation will be in West Quad, Room 103 at 2:30 p.m.

The discussion group panels on the 23rd run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be held in the Campus Center Theatre. The four panels are as follows:
8:30 a.m. - Educating the Next Generation of Intellectuals in Africana Studies
Moderator Dr. Linda Nelson
10:30 a.m. - Hooping and Hollering: The Art of Black Oratory and Cultural Communication
Moderator: Dr. Beverly Vaughn
12:30 p.m. - Reality TV and the Black Public Image
Moderator: Dr. Donnetrice Allison
2:30 p.m. - Malcom X: Real Symbol of the Black Freedom Movement or a Life of Reinvention?
Moderator: Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt
After the discussion there will be a showing of Spike Lee’s film, Malcolm X.
