First Miss America of Indian Descent Subject of Backlash on Twitter

A Fox Radio host claims Miss Kansas was robbed because she "actually represents American values."

Miss New York Nina Davaluri’s victory in the Miss America 2014 Pageant brought about a furious backlash on Twitter, with some people saying she “doesn’t represent American values,” among other attacks, the Huffington Post reports.

Davaluri was the first contestant of Indian descent to take the crown home Sunday night. Her platform was Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Competency, but her victory resulted in a slew of stereotypes flying through the Twitter universe, including references to Indians and Arabs, according to the report.

Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes stated he believes Miss Kansas Theresa Vail was robbed because she “actually represented American values.”
