Five Things You Need To Know About Monday's Galloway BOE Meeting

Board Member John Knorr thinks the township should consider moving school elections to November.

1.     Board Member John Knorr discussed the possibility of school elections moving to November to coincide with political elections. A Senate Committee recently approved legislation that would allow municipalities to move school elections to November if so desired, and now the bill moves to the full Senate for approval.

“It might become a political vote in some places, but it’s already political in some places now,” Knorr said. “It’s something to consider.”

3.     Recently elected Councilman Brian Tyrrell was in attendance at Monday night’s meeting. Tyrrell is an Associate Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and is serving as an interim councilman until his official appointment on Jan. 3.

4.     The Board of Education have three events scheduled in two weeks, including public meetings on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30, and a special event on Feb. 3. There are then two more meetings to follow in February, but there was some discussion about canceling one of these meetings. No decision was made.

5.     Tim Kelley was officially sworn in as Business Administrator, taking over for Vickie Tomasco, who retired earlier this month.
