Former Atlantic City Official Pleads Guilty to Marijuana Possession
Mark Hamilton must forfeit his position with the city.

The Atlantic City Superintendent of the Office of Weights and Measures plead guilty on Monday, Dec. 3 to a disorderly persons charge of possession of marijuana under 50 grams, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain said Monday night.
Mark Hamilton, 57, of Atlantic City, will have to forfeit his position with the city as a result of his plea deal, according to First Assistant Prosecutor Diane Ruberton, who represented the state in this case.
Hamilton was arrested on Oct. 13, 2011 following a routine traffic stop on Route 40, McClain said. During the stop, police discovered he had a small amount of marijuana in his city-issued vehicle, McClain said.

Hamilton will receive a conditional discharge provided he remains drug free for six months in accordance with his plea agreement, McClain said. He will be subject to random drug screenings and a $750 fine, McClain said.
