Furloughs for Township Employees Begin Friday and Run Through the End of August
The furloughs were part of an agreement to avoid layoffs this year.

Beginning this week, Galloway Township offices will be closed on Fridays.

Furlough dates are as follows: June 22, 2012, June 29; July 5, 6, 13, 20, 27; and Aug. 3, 10,17, 24, 31.

The date creates a situation where the complex will be closed three days in a row every week, Friday-Sunday, with the exception of Fourth of July week, when the complex will be closed for five consecutive days, from July 4-8. This came as the result of a union request to replace June 15 with July 5 as a furlough day, according to Liston.
During the previous furlough periods, in 2010 and 2011, the township was closed on Mondays. An was reached in March of last year to end that furlough period.
