Military Impersonator Arrested on Veterans Day: Police

Michael S. Porter was charged with impersonating military personnel after he was seen in uniform near a South Jersey military base.

A 25-year-old Galloway man has been arrested for allegedly falsely portraying himself as a member of the US Army Military Police/ Airbourne on Veterans Day, Galloway Township Police said.

Michael S. Porter was allegedly dressed in military uniform in the area of a military base in the area of Pomona Road and Atlantic Avenue. He was allegedly found in possession of a portable radio capable of receiving transmissions from several police departments and emergency dispatch centers.

He was also found in possession of handcuffs and a handcuff key.

He was charged with impersonating military personnel/stolen valor, and lodged in Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $5,000 full cash bail.
