Galloway Man Convicted, 1 Acquitted For 2015 Murder: Prosecutor
Dennis Munoz was convicted for the fatal shooting of Michael Black. One man was acquitted of charges that he was a co-conspirator.

GALLOWAY, N.J. — An Atlantic County jury convicted Dennis Munoz for murder in the fatal shooting of Michael Black, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday. Edwin Velasquez was acquitted of charges that he was a co-conspirator and accomplice to the murder.
Black, 31, was shot in Mays Landing on Nov. 9, 2015, and was declared dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Division. An autopsy the following morning determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner was homicide, the ACPO said.
Sentencing for Munoz is scheduled for June 12. The jury found him guilty of murder, unlawful handgun possession, possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose, witness tampering and weapon possession by a convicted person.

Munoz was arrested the morning after Black died. Hamilton Township Police, Township of Hamilton Rescue personnel, and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to a home on the 5900 block of Elmhurst Drive in Mays Landing in response to a 911 call received at 7:29 p.m. that night. They found Black suffering from a gunshot wound.
