Galloway Man Indicted In Crash That Killed 8-Year-Old: Prosecutor

Edward W. Johnston was intoxicated when his car struck a parked car, killing a sleeping 8-year-old boy, officials said.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man was indicted on aggravated manslaughter charges in connection with a July 2023 crash where he struck a parked car, killing a sleeping 8-year-boy, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Edward W. Johnston, 25, was intoxicated and "recklessly speeding" at about 3:25 a.m. on July 23, 2023, when his Nissan Sentra left the roadway and struck a parked car on White Horse Pike in Absecon, authorities said.

Inside the car was a Philadelphia boy, 8, who had been sleeping in the car after spending the day fishing with his father, authorities previously said.
