Galloway Residents to Lose Access to Atlantic City Service Area
The access road will remain open until the interchange is built, a state official said.

Galloway residents will lose access to a highly traveled service area off Jimmie Leeds Road, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
The Atlantic City Service area off the Garden State Parkway accessible to Galloway residents off Jimmie Leeds Road will only remain open until the interchange is built, New Jersey Turnpike Authority Engineer Richard Raczynski told the Press of Atlantic City on Wednesday, May 30.
He told the Press that after that, it would have to be closed because state police want it closed for security reasons and once the interchange is complete, there won't be any safe way to turn off Jimmie Leeds Road into the service area.

Galloway residents will have continued access to the Parkway beyond the completion of the project, but not to the service area.
A new state police barracks is being constructed in Galloway. According to the Press, state police feel leaving the service area accessible to residents off Jimmie Leeds Road would create a security problem.

The statement reinforces what the Turnpike Authority's stance has been since last summer, a stance opposed by Galloway , officials and Senators Jim Whelan and Christopher Connors. Residents will still be able to access the Parkway from Jimmie Leeds Road.
Connors, Galloway Mayor Don Purdy and Freeholder Alex Marino with the authority to discuss the issue last month. On Wednesday, Connors said he would continue to appeal the Authority's decision.
