Galloway Woman Charged With DWI After Hitting Utility Pole

The woman suffered minor injuries in the accident.

A Galloway woman has been charged with DWI following a one-car accident on Route 30 and Holly Avenue, Galloway Police said on Sunday.

Verna Watkins, 49, was traveling west on Route 30 around 9:50 a.m. Sunday morning when her car left the road and hit a utility pole.

She was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division with minor injuries.

Along with the DWI charge, Watkins was charged with numerous motor vehicle violations.

Route 30 was initially shut down in both directions for about 45 minutes. One lane was shut down for five hours while while the damaged utility pole and wires were repaired.
