Galloway Zoning Board Reorganizes, Approves Gas Station for Pitney and Jimmie Leeds Wawa

Former Democratic candidate Jim McElwee was sworn in as one of three new members.

Jim McElwee, a Democratic candidate for Galloway Township Council in the 2011 municipal elections, was sworn in as one of three new members of the Galloway Township Zoning Board at the board’s reorganization meeting Thursday night, Jan. 12.

The other two new members, Frank Gargione and Alex Martin, were also sworn in by Councilman Jim Gorman on Thursday night.

McElwee ran alongside Gorman and fellow Democrat Kevin Krumaker in the Nov. 8 . Gorman was re-elected to council during those elections, as was Republican Tony Coppola. Republican Brian Tyrrell was elected to council for the first time.

Mark Sykes was unanimously re-appointed to his post as chairman, and Ron Huber was unanimously re-appointed vice chairman. Pamela Alleyne was unanimously re-appointed board secretary.

Rosenberger and Wolf, out of Linwood ,was named Board Solicitor, Dixon and Associates was named the Engineer, Birdsall Services Group was named conflict engineer and Tiffany Cuviello reprised her role as planner.

Gargione and Huber were named to the Administrative Bill Committee.

β€œI just wanted to thank these volunteers,” Gorman said. β€œThey don’t get the attention that other volunteers get.”

Following the appointments, the Zoning Board approved a resolution allowing Metro Development to develop a at the Wawa on Jimmie Leeds and Pitney Road. The application will now go before the planning board.

Meetings will be held on the following dates: Jan. 26, Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 8, March 22, April 12, April 26, May 10, May 24, June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23, Sept. 13, Sept. 27, Oct. 11, Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 22, Dec. 13 and Dec. 27.
