GCCS Hosts Free Throw Shooting Contest

The winners at the Galloway Community Charter School's event advanced to the district tournament.

The hosted its first "Hoop Shoot" free-throw shooting contest, sponsored by the Elks Club, last week. Students, ages 8-13, competed for the chance to advance to the district tournament. There are also state and regional rounds before eventually reaching the national finals.

Local winners will be recognized at the Elks Awards ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Elks Lodge in Galloway.

The "Hoop Shoot" contest is the country's biggest non-commercial, co-educational sports program. Students are afforded the opportunity to compete regardless of race, color or creed.
