EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — An Egg Harbor Township man was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning, leaving behind a wife and children.

But the community has rallied around the family through a GoFundMe to raise money to support them in their time of need.

Jose Costa, 37, lost control of his car in the Scullville section of Egg Harbor Township at about 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, police said. He hit a pole and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the GoFundMe, Costa left behind his wife Theresa, his high school sweetheart. They had four children together, ages 6, 11, 13 and 16.

Costa was an employee of Egg Harbor Township Public Works for nearly two decades, the GoFundMe said. The fundraiser was started by the wives of several public works employees to support the rest of the Costa family as they grieve.
