UPDATED: Impact of Furloughs to be Felt Throughout the Year in Galloway
Township employees must take 12 furlough days, but are assured there will be no layoffs for two years, per agreement reached last year.

employees will see the impact of furlough days in their paychecks throughout the year, rather than feel the impact all at once, Galloway Township Interim Acting Manager Arch Liston confirmed Friday afternoon, Feb. 24.
Township employees will take 12 furlough days this year in accordance with an agreement between the township and Local 210 reached last At the time, the union filed a grievance with the township to recover money township employees lost over furlough days. The employees were furloughed in 2010, and then-Township Manager Roger Tees extended those furloughs into 2011.
The employees did not recover their money, but part of the agreement called for employees to take 12 furlough days in exchange for an assurance that no one would be laid off for two years. There has been no change in that agreement, Councilman Dennis Kleiner said.

βItβs going to be a pay adjustment across the year,β Councilman Tony Coppola said. βWe hated to do that, but weβre going to have a difficult year again. We have great employees who are willing to make sacrifices. We hope to be more efficient in the future so we wonβt have to do this again.β
