Man Allegedly Assaulted Galloway Police Officer With Car; Still At-Large

James Gallaway allegedly hit an officer with his car before crashing it and fleeing on foot. Police say heroin was found in the car.

Galloway Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a suspect who allegedly hit a Galloway Police officer with his car during a traffic stop on Wednesday.

James Gallaway is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, assault by auto, eluding, obstruction, possession of CDS, and numerous motor vehicle violations.

He is described as a 35-year-old black man, standing 5’8” tall and weighing about 160 pounds with a slender build. He frequents Galloway Township and Pleasantville.

K-9 Sgt. Scott Winneberger stopped Gallaway’s car on Wrangleboro Road near Moss Mill Road on Wednesday. As Winneberger was speaking to Gallaway, Gallaway allegedly pulled away, hitting Winneberger in the process. Winneberger suffered minor injuries.

Police found Gallaway’s car crashed a short distance away. Gallaway had allegedly fled on foot and could not be found, but police allegedly found heroin in his car.
