Man Drives Into Longport Cop Car, Gets DWI: Police

A man drove into drove into a Longport police vehicle while intoxicated and fled the scene Friday, officials said. An officer who witnessed the crash found Michael K. Muller, 28, of Somers Point, shortly after, the Longport Police Department said.

Ptl. Shaune Slattery had just entered her marked patrol car after conducting an unrelated vehicle stop on the Longport Boulevard in the area of Hospitality Drive, the LPD said. Following the crash, an ambulance took Slattery to Shore Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and later released, police said.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department charged Muller with driving while intoxicated, the LPD said.

"The Longport Police Department would like to remind the public of the dangers of impaired driving and to always exercise due caution and reduce speeds when approaching stationary emergency vehicles with flashing lights," the LPD said.
