Man Indicted In Hit-And-Run That Killed Galloway Teen: Prosecutor

Everette Williams had a suspended license when he hit the 17-year-old with his Jeep, and fled the scene after removing his V.I.N., cops say.

ABSECON, NJ — An Atlantic City man was indicted for a hit-and-run on White Horse Pike that killed a 17-year-old pedestrian from Galloway, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Everette Williams, 51, was indicted on June 4 for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident that resulted in death and other charges after an investigation into the crash earlier this year, officials said.

The teenage boy, identified as "J.J." by the prosecutor's office, was killed Feb. 17 at 9:23 p.m. in Absecon when he was struck by a Jeep Compass, authorities said.

Williams was driving the Jeep with a suspended driver's license at the time, officials said. He then fled the scene after he removed the vehicle identification number from the Jeep, according to officials.

The crash was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Fatal Crash Investigation Unit and Absecon police.
