Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three people were seriously injured in a four-car crash at the intersection of Route 30 and 7th Avenue in Galloway Township in which one car was flipped over and a Galloway man had to be extricated, police said Friday night.

Joseph F. Crotty Jr., 91, of Toms River, was driving a 2010 Cadillac DTS east on Route 30, just east of 6th Avenue, when police say he rear-ended a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, at about 12:01 p.m.

Bernice Campfield, 51, of Atlantic City, had just pulled the Chrysler onto Route 30 from 7th Avenue when she was hit. The collision drove the Cadillac east on Route 30 into the rear of a Chevrolet Cobalt, being driven by 29-year-old Ruben Rodriguez, of Galloway. The Cobalt was stopped on the eastbound shoulder of Route 30.

That collision drove the Cobalt into a telephone pole in front of the Crystal Inn and Suites, police said. The Cadillac then swerved back into the road and flipped over. As the Cadillac overturned, it struck the rear of a GMC Terrain, being driven by 73-year-old MaryJane Steele. The Cadillac ended up on its roof on Route 30.

The Bayview Fire Department rescued Rodriguez from his car. Rodriguez and his passenger, 54-year-old Paula T. Sardano, of Galloway, were taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
