Mom 'Critical' After Saving Kids At NJ Beach Expected To Recover
Brigantine police have released an update on the status of a mother who jumped into the ocean to save her kids from drowning.
BRIGANTINE, NJ — The mother who ran into the ocean in an attempt to save her children from drowning is expected to make a full recovery, Brigantine police said.
The 28-year-old was in "critical condition" after she nearly drowned trying to save her two young children in Brigantine on July 13, police previously said. "Thank you all for your concern and kind words for the victim, her family, and the first responders involved in this incident," Brigantine police said in a statement. "We have received information from a family member of the woman involved in this incident that her condition has improved and she is expected to make a full recovery."

The statement thanked Brigantine police offers, Brigantine firefighters and the Brigantine City Beach Patrol for their work in saving multiple lives.
"Because of the mother's selfless actions and the witness immediately seeking help, the children were able to be rescued by Brigantine Beach Patrol who were training prior to their shift on a beach nearby," Brigantine police said at the time of the incident.
