New Community Meal Kit Truck Launched By AtlantiCare
The AtlantiCare Community Mobile Market is part of a pilot program to help improve access to fresh and healthy food in Atlantic City.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A sponsorship from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority will allow AtlantiCare to distribute meal kits to families in need in Atlantic City, New Jersey's second-highest-ranked Food Desert Community.
“Every New Jerseyan deserves equitable access to affordable groceries regardless of their zip code,” Gov. Phil Murphy said Wednesday. “The funding announced today will support several innovative programs that will alleviate the pressure on countless Atlantic City residents who travel miles out of their community to buy the groceries they need for their families. My administration continues to be committed to expanding access to fresh and healthy foods in Atlantic City and across the state.”
On Wednesday, about 100 Atlantic City families had their first experience with the new AtlantiCare Community Mobile Market truck, in the process receiving a free meal kit complete with fresh ingredients, recipe, and cooking instructions to create a nutritious pasta dinner for 4-6 people. At the event—held at the AtlantiCare HealthPlex in Atlantic City—President & CEO Michael J. Charlton and dozens of volunteers from the AtlantiCare team distributed the kits as well as vouchers to be used for the purchase of meal kits in the future. The AtlantiCare Community Mobile Market truck will be appearing throughout Atlantic City, making complete meal kits with fresh ingredients available to families for just $10.
